Mr. Obama, Let’s Make A Deal!

I know you don’t know me, but you should know my case. After all, you were a “Constitutional Attorney,” and therefore, you should have studied, or at least heard about, a landmark case in which a couple of small town sheriffs sued the Clinton administration and won a monumental ruling on the principle of State Sovereignty. The Mack/Printz case was filed in 1994 and the decision was rendered June 27, 1997. Two sheriffs, one from Montana and one from Arizona (I’m Mack, the one from Arizona) beat the Federal Government at the U S Supreme Court on one of the most powerful Tenth Amendment rulings in American history. As your healthcare case was, mine also was a 5-4 split decision. Nevertheless, just as you did on June 28th, we won and victory can be so sweet, and like you, I did not “spike the football.”
Now I write books about freedom, the Constitution, State Sovereignty, the Oath of Office, and local autonomy. I also travel the country speaking at Tea Party rallies and other freedom oriented organizations. I have frequently assailed your policies and the corruption of DC politics. I don’t see where you or Congress actually adhere to the Rule of Law as detailed within the Bill of Rights. I have been highly critical of the Patriot Act, the NDAA, the gun running Fast and Furious scandal, the out of control spending and monstrous debt, the fact that it’s easier for a terrorist to enter our country than it is for for an American to get on an airplane, or a welfare state where we are forced to be charitable or we go to jail, and of course, your socialized health care plan that forces us all to have health insurance. I have stated publicly, that I will never participate in any manner with your socialistic Obamacare . Furthermore, I have even gone so far as to declare I will not pay your “tax” or fines or penalties for failing to obey your insurance law! You see Mr. Obama, I have the audacity to believe that if we really lived in a free country that choices regarding healthcare, education, charity, the food we eat, farming, and overall, how I live my life, is up to me and not you or the FDA, EPA, DHS, IRS, (we could go on with this forever, but I think you get the picture.) Nevertheless, freedom is defined by how much government leaves us alone.
You see Mr. Obama, the Supreme Court ruled in my case that the “Constitution protects us from our own best intentions.” Wow! That means all good ideas and government charity and the good intentions of the federal government actually are not automatically a legislative prerogative. Justice Scalia wrote the decision in my case, and as you probably know, he has a sense of humor. He said, the States are not “puppets of a ventriloquist Congress.” Don’t you love that? His jab at Congress reminded me who actually formed the Federal Government; that’s right, it was the 13 original States! The States created the new central government and “delegated” to it a few “discreet and enumerated powers.” This is all in my ruling. Amazing isn’t it? The Federal Government is not allowed to do whatever it wants whenever it wants as most of you in Washington believe. You only have “discreet and enumerated powers” which the Supreme Court said, “was rendered express by the Tenth Amendment.” The U S Supreme Court had the audacity to tell us all that the “States are not subject to federal direction.” In other words, you, your hundreds of bureaucracies, Congress, or even your TSA gropers at the airports, ARE NOT OUR BOSS!
Your Supreme Court ruling, in which Chief Justice Roberts ruled that you were wrong when you said Obamacare was not a tax, because he ruled that it was. Therefore, Roberts said, that if Obamacare is a tax then of course, it is constitutional. So, Roberts and the four liberal/progressives on the court, want us all to believe that as long as you call it a tax, then you can do anything to us that you want. You can become a dictator, the feds can be as totalitarian as they like, as long as all edicts and subsequent spending are taxes! The Founders of our country called “the power to tax the power to destroy.” Therefore, Roberts’ ruling and your “victory,” just destroyed more of what made America great in the first place; Liberty! The power and the right of the people to choose for themselves.
Regardless of how wrong Roberts was, I am still more than willing to make you a deal. I will go along with your Supreme Court Victory if you go along with mine. Even though my ruling came out 15 years and one day before yours did, I will still keep my word and my part of the bargain. I will announce it to all the Tea Party and freedom organizations all across America, that you and I have a deal. In fact, if you agree to to this deal, I will even vote for you. That’s right, I am a Tea Party activist, a constitutional conservative, and a Republican. Even worse, my mother will turn over in her grave. Nevertheless, I will vote for you if we have a deal. You go along with mine, I will go along with yours. Conversely, if you will not adhere to my Supreme Court ruling; then why should I or anyone else obey yours?
Sheriff Richard Mack (Ret)
